ESTOY EN ESPAÑA!!!!

Hola todos!

Phew ok i have 5 minutes and counting on the internet meter...

We arrived in Madrid this morning, having had a pretty nice flight with lots of food and lots of reading magazines. Natasha and I instituted a only Russian-Spanish policy which we are trying to follow. Luckily, much to the dismay of the obnoxious Iberia attendants who laughed when I asked if my baggage would arrive on time...it actually did!!

Our hotel is AMAZING...in the heart of Madrid and fancy shmancy. We had a three course meal for lunch and instead of siesta, (which we were promised) they took us on a bus tour of Madrid...which after a few minutes, turned into a siesta for almost everyone...

OK 1 minute..everything is great, im remembering spanish, and the people in the program seem very nice. More to come!!!

Hola and Holllaaaa!

Dear Friends, Romans, Countrypeople,

Welcome to my blog! I am so excited to share my experiences with you. Living in Spain has been a goal of mine for many years, and it is about to come true!

To explain the name: "sevillana" is the feminine form of sevillano...a citizen of Seville. So that is what I hope to be...Stella, la sevillana, and not Stella, that awkward and obviously American girl.

To bring you up to date on happenings since coming home...there was some of this:

That's дедушка aka Russian grandpa, my lovely mother, and I making пельмени (pelmeni), a kind of Russian dumpling, from scratch. By the time you read this, we will have made 3000. I kid you not.

Then there was a bit of this:

That's grandpa making шашлык, or shish kabobs, mmmm... Sorry for the vegetarians reading this.

And then to top off the domestic bliss...I baked a Russian cake called вини пух, or Winnie the Pooh...8 layers of Russian goodness...from scratch. We devoured it in two days...

That's about it. Exciting, I know. I have really enjoyed the slow pace of being at home, but am ready for some adventure
